June 16, 2020, San Jose, CA – Pavilion Data Systems, the leader in the third wave of data storage, announced today that Sony Innovation Studios Inc., a division of Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE), is in the process of deploying the firm's storage array as part of an easy to use, scalable, and dense solution that supports much needed high speed protocols.

Legacy AFAs were designed for availability, and use the same dual controller architecture that was intended to meet the performance needs of an array of spinning disks. Based on the serial design of disks connected to a single active controller, this type of configuration can never fully take advantage of the parallel access that SSDs offer.

April 16, 2020 – San Jose, Calif. – Pavilion Data Systems, the leader in NVMe-over-Fabrics (NVMe-oF), announced VMware vSphere 7 certification and presence on VMware’s Compatibility Guide. Pavilion is one of the first storage array vendors to support VMware vSphere 7 using RDMA-over-Converged Ethernet (RoCE v2).

vSphere 7.0 also adds a new feature which can increase performance of I/O bound VMs (such as databases or business intelligence) massively: NVMe over Fabrics (NVMe-oF). With NVMe-oF, it is now possible to virtualize I/O intensive workloads that needed to be run on bare metal before. NVMe-oF can also increase the performance of more traditional VMs, allowing more of them to be run on the same hardware, faster.

The no-compromise enterprise storage platform now supports a complete suite of data management features for consolidation of VM sprawl and native Container Storage Interface (CSI) for simplified migration to PKS, Docker and Kubernetes containers. Release 2.3 includes native VMware support for vCenter, VMware Ready support for NFS along with backward compatibility for block-based iSCSI connectivity. The company will be demonstrating integration of the VMware NVMe-Over-RDMA inbox driver support at VMworld Europe in Barcelona, booth #G209, November 4-7, 2019.
